Hey,

Just curious, I am running a ATI x600 256mb PCI express, on a chaintech Ultra VNF motherboard. I seem to have a ton of problems with this graphics card. Drivers are updated and I still get a ton of crashes and black screen issues. Any help would be greatly apreciated before I "Smash it with a Hammer!" thanks.

Try matching the resolution inside & outside of the game using no more than 1024x768 (or perhaps 800x600 though that would totally drive me mad).

Based soly on cost per www.pricewatch.com it sounds like it's a decent enough card (thought maybe it was a bargain basement one).

I couldn't much of anything at www.tomshardware.com about the X600 except that it looks to be a couple years old technology. I think I have a couple X800s (upgrade to the X600 it looks like) and I'm not having any of those issues so I doubt if the basic "your card is too old" is an issue.

There's a 4/06 DirectX 50MB patch that is required...but I think you wouldn't have been able to log in at all if you didn't load it (though perhaps it's just REQUIRED for PoR). This update CANNOT be found via Windows Update. I think Drag posted a link somewhere if you haven't done this yet.

Dunno, if the matching resolution thing doesn't fix it I might suspect your card (not the technology, the hardware itself). You mentioned online you were in EQ2...was that recently enough that you can attest that you have no near-current problems there?
